What Is a Day Master?
Your Day Master — 일간 (ilgan) in Korean, 日干 in Chinese characters — is the Heavenly Stem that sits on top of your Day Pillar.
A full Saju chart has four "pillars," one each for your birth year, month, day, and hour. Each pillar has a Heavenly Stem on top and an Earthly Branch below. Out of all eight of those characters, one stands for you: the stem of your Day Pillar. That's your Day Master.
Everything else in the chart is read in relation to this one character. It is your reference point — the "I" that the rest of the story revolves around.
Why the Day Master Matters More Than Anything Else
Think of your Day Master as the main character of a novel. Every other element is defined by how it relates to the lead.

- Your luck cycles (대운, daeun) are interpreted as what each incoming energy does to you, meaning your Day Master again.
