從旺格 (Following Prosperous Pattern) is a Following Pattern (從格) in which the chart is dominated overwhelmingly by Companion elements (比劫 — Rob Wealth and Peer elements) of the same elemental family as the Day Master. When the entire chart is saturated with same-element energy, the Day Master no longer needs to assert individual selfhood — it simply IS the dominant wave. This is the most self-affirming of all patterns: the individual who follows the prosperous self becomes a concentrated expression of their elemental nature, with enormous independent power.

Formation Conditions

The Following Prosperous Pattern forms when the chart is overwhelmingly dominated by the Day Master's own elemental energy through Companion elements:

• The chart must be filled with Companion elements — both Rob Wealth (劫財) and Peer (比肩) — across the major pillars (month, year, hour) and their stems, creating a situation where the same elemental energy dominates everywhere.


• Resource (印) elements may also appear, since they generate the Day Master and strengthen the dominant elemental family. A chart filled with Day Master + Companion + Resource all of the same elemental orientation creates the 從旺格 condition.


• External Ten Gods (Wealth, Officer, Output) must be absent or negligibly weak. If they appear with any real force, they create opposition to the dominant elemental wave, breaking the following condition and making the chart read as an extreme imbalance rather than a Following Pattern.


• Wealth elements are the most dangerous disruption: Wealth is controlled by the Day Master, so its appearance means the self has something external to control — breaking the "following the self" dynamic.


• The "following" in this pattern means following the self at its most concentrated: the Day Master does not assert against anything because everything in the chart IS the same element. There is nothing to assert against.

Favorable Gods (Yongsin) and Unfavorable Gods

Favorable (用神 / Beneficial Gods):

• Companion (比劫): The ruling energy. Strong Companion elements reinforce the dominant elemental wave.


• Resource (印): Generates the Day Master and Companion elements, feeding the dominant energy. Generally favorable as an upstream supporter.


• Output (食傷) in moderation: Output elements produced by the Day Master can serve as a release valve for the overwhelming elemental energy, channeling it into productive expression. Moderate Output prevents the self-energy from becoming completely static or explosive.

• Wealth (財): The most damaging element. The Day Master controls Wealth — its appearance means the self must engage with something external, disrupting the pure self-following condition and creating dramatic instability.


• Officer (官殺): Controls the Day Master and Companion elements. Officers attack the dominant elemental wave directly, creating conflict and disruption.


• Any element that opposes the elemental family: Whatever element controls the Day Master's elemental family is the primary threat.

• Unshakeable self-determination: Following Prosperous individuals have an absolute sense of who they are and what they stand for. External pressure, social expectation, and institutional constraint simply do not penetrate their core identity. Their independence is total.


• Concentrated elemental power: The complete saturation of the chart with one elemental quality produces extraordinary concentrations of that element's characteristics.
